The Palace Museum in Taipei on Tuesday launched a digital exhibition, allowing viewers to enjoy 16 precious artworks from its collection through innovative technologies, including projection, sound effects and immersive technology.
The Jadeite Cabbage, a Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) carving depicting Chinese cabbage crafted from jadeite, one of the museum's most renowned artworks, has been displayed in 8K videos for viewers to appreciate its intricate carving details. People can also explore the sculpture from various perspectives by rotating its 3D model at the exhibition.
The exhibition also features three paintings from the Song Dynasty (960-1279) regarded as a trio of treasures at the museum, namely, "Travelers Among Mountains and Streams," "Early Spring," and "Whispering Pines in Myriad Valleys."
The three paintings were last displayed physically in 2021. The ongoing exhibition not only provides audiences an opportunity to savor the paintings in 8K videos but also an immersive experience of the depicted scenery through digital installations.
The exhibition will last until July 28.
